de ALMS acura zou voor AGR zijn.

Quote:
Andretti Green Racing are set to be unveiled as the team that will run Honda's Acura branded LMP2 cars in next year's American Le Mans Series.

According to speedtv.com, AGR will be announced on Thursday as their team of choice for next year's series after beating off a bid from Rahal Letterman Racing to run the cars.
En der hangt nog een verrassing aan vast:

Quote:
Danica Patrick is rumoured to have signed to the team's IRL squad for next season, meaning one of the current squad drivers, most likely Bryan Herta or Dario Franchitti, will have to make way.

The sportscar programme could mean either will be retained in the AGR set-up next season.

AGR is slechts 1 van de 3 teams.

As predicted (Competition, July 10), Adrian Fernandez's Grand-Am team will move to the rival ALMS to field a one-car team. Andretti Green Racing is also in, as is ALMS team Highcroft Racing.

...

Honda has ordered copies of both the Lola B05/40 chassis-LMP2 class winner at Le Mans for the past two years-and the as-yet-unraced Courage LC75. It appears likely that AGR and Highcroft will race Courages, probably one each but perhaps two for AGR, and that Fernandez will use the Lola.

Former Simtek F1 team owner, Benetton chief designer and FIA consultant Nick Wirth is to be a major player in the forthcoming bid for Honda to win the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Wirth, who has been involved in Honda's IRL programme in recent years, is expected to be the man leading the design team for the Acura-branded chassis which will be seen racing in the ALMS in 2008 and at Le Mans in 2009. The final decision is yet to be taken as Honda might choose to partner Lola or Courage if it seems a better option.

Ik wist eigenlijk niet dat Wirth nog actief was binnen de autosport.
