Volant Dakar : the opportunity to discover the Dakar

ASO (event organiser), in collaboration with the French Federation of Motor Sports (FFSA) and the car manufacturer Bowler (backed by Land Rover), opens the doors of the Dakar to young talent from the world of motor sports.

After a selection according to criteria established by the three partners of the operation, a driver and a navigator will be invited to constitute a crew on the 2005 Telefonica Dakar (1st – 16th January 2005). « Volant Dakar », is the opportunity for a young twosome ( candidates must be aged between 18 and 30) to participate in a mythical competition synonymous with discovery and surpassing of one’s limits. It is above all the occasion to take up a unique sporting challenge shared by amateurs and professionals.

A Bowler Wildcat 200 « ready to run » vehicle will be provided for the 2005 Telefonica Dakar and for the Dakar driving courses organised in Clermont-Ferrand. Assistance throughout the event, entry fees, transport, accommodation and meals will also be provided.

DATES

23rd September : entries open
25th September: official launching of the operation at the Mondial de l’Automobile, at the FFSA stand, hall 7.2, stand n°546, row C.
1st November : entries closed
10th November : pre-selection of the entry forms of 10 crews
13th and 14th November : selection of the winning crew at the site of the Harmattan company (Clermont-Ferrand), with a series of physical and technical tests supervised by Patrick Zaniroli, Sporting Director of the Dakar.
15th and 16th November : practical, theoretical and mechanical training session in Clermont-Ferrand.
17th November : official presentation of the selected crew at the 2005 Telefonica-Dakar press conference
Early December : FFSA training session in Le Mans
