Op 2 november geeft Ford een pers conferentie over zijn autosport programma. Vermoedelijk wordt daar bekend gemaakt dat M-Sport een contract krijgt voor 4 jaar WRC en dat Ford deel zal nemen aan WTCC.

Op zich een zeer logische gedachte, het is eigenlijk raar te noemen dat twee merken uit dezelfde stal elkaar bestrijden in één kampioenschap waar de constructuers makkelijk op één hand te tellen te zijn. Dus hoelang de PSA merken Citroën en Peugeot nog samen deelnemen aan het WRC is nog maar de vraag...........

Doet deugd om te zien dat constructeurs terug zin hebben in het kampioenschap. Renault is z'n F1 toekomst ook aan het herbekijken. Van dochter Nissan zijn er al meermaals geruchten de wereld rondgegaan ivm ETCC. En wat indien DTM na volgend jaar ophoudt te bestaan?

FIA ETCC regulars Rickard Rydell and Jordi Gené, and Alain Menu who was signed by Chevrolet for its 2005 FIA WTCC campaign, will face each other this weekend in the 200 Km of Buenos Aires, valid as 12th round of the Argentine TC2000 championship

Rydell, who gave SEAT its first FIA ETCC victory this year in Oschersleben, will share a Honda Civic entered by the Honda Racing Petrobras team with former Argentine touring car champion Juan Manuel Silva, who is currently second in the points.

As for Rydell’s SEAT Sport team-mate Gené, he will share a Volkswagen Polo with former F1 star Esteban Tuero.

Current TC2000 leader Christian Ledesma, who has a solid 48-point margin, will be joined by Menu in his Chevrolet Astra run by the Chevrolet Pro Racing team. This will be Menu’s first race for Chevrolet, in view of the 2005 FIA WTCC

Ford gaat toch niet als fabrieksteam deelnemen aan WTCC, maar wel klantenteams ondersteunen.

Zo zou een touring wagen versie van nieuwe Ford Focus eruit kunnen zien:

Dat heb je verkeerd vertaald, enkel Menu heeft een Chevrolet contract getekend. Als ze alle 3 bij Chevrelet een contract hadden getekend had er het volgende moeten staan:

Dus tot op heden is alleen Alain Menu bevestigd als coureur? Ik meende dat Thompson ook al bevestigd was?

Ik denk ook dat alleen Menu bevestigd is. Rydell, Thompson, Jordi Gené en ook onze landgenoot Vincent Radermecker maken kans op het tweede en derde zitje
