The British Gigawave team, which was to have represented Nissan in next year's FIA GT1 World Championship, is to close its doors.

The decision leaves Nissan looking for a European agent as well as a new team to run a pair of V8-engined GT-Rs in 2010. Gigawave, which was Nissan's development partner in 2009, was due to have coordinated sale of cars and spares for the Japanese manufacturer.

Gigawave Motorsport had yet to confirm its plans as AUTOSPORT closed for press before Christmas, but it is understood that financial problems are behind the move.

Gigawave joined the FIA GT Championship in conjunction with Barwell Motorsport at the end of 2007. It then contested the full series in its own right with an Aston Martin DBR9 in 2008.

Volgens Pitstop.tv gaat het Britse Sumo Power in het nieuwe WK GT1 twee Nissans GT-R runnen. Sumo neemt het programma over van Gigawave, dat eind vorig jaar werd stopte.

The applications will now be examined by the FIA, before an entry list is released by the end of the month.

Op de SRT corvette dan? en dan de Brazilianen op de DKR? of doen die niet meer mee.

En Longin dan naar Phoenix carsport om terug met kumpen te rijden, en Hezemans terug met delatraz? Want van PK is er niets meer te vinden.

'k Snap niet waarom die Ford en Nissan als "FIA homologation in progress" gemarkeerd staan. Het zijn deze twee wagens die al sinds vorig jaar volgens de nieuwe GT1 meegereden hebben! Sinds wanneer zijn die oude GT1s, zoals de Aston Martin en Corvette, volledig goedgekeurd trouwens?

In Ratels droomwereldje (anno 2008, begin 2009) zou het FIA GT1 2010 volgepakt zitten met nieuwe GT1s, ipv met al die 2e en 3e hands troep.
Moet wel een slag in het gezicht zijn voor Nissan die al een heel jaar zo hard hebben gewerkt om eervol met een nieuwe GT1 aan de slag te komen, om dan zomaar ingehaald te worden door de oude garde die er oorspronkelijk dit jaar helemaal niet had bedoeld bij te zijn!

Wendlinger in een swiss racing Nissan. DIe Nissan zou er niet slecht uitzien in red bull kleuren. samen met Max Nilsson
