Stepneygate: Ferrari dient juridische aanklacht in tegen werknemer Nigel Stepney

The Modena district attorney in Italy has opened criminal investigation against Ferrari stalwart Nigel Stepney, after the Maranello outfit filed a formal complaint earlier this week.

The team would not divulge the nature of their complaint or what Stepney is accused of, but a team spokesman has confirmed to autosport.com that the Briton is at the centre of investigation.

"Ferrari have taken action against Nigel Stepney, and there is now an investigation," the spokesman said, adding that Stepney is still an employee of Ferrari.

Ferrari refused to offer any additional information, saying they will refrain from making any comment on the matter while the investigation is ongoing.

Stepney himself is currently on holiday, and all attempts to reach him for comment over the last few days have failed.

Ik volg F1 de niet meer zo, echter dit vind ik toch een zeer opmerkelijk bericht. Stepney is toch al jaren één van de topfiguren binnen de Scuderia Ferrari.

Geen details geven, is natuurlijk de deur hemelsbreed open zetten om alle gissingen binnen te laten...

Gokje? Industriële spionage... geheime information doorgespeeld aan een concurrent... wie? de gasten die met hun hoofdsponsor aan de haal gingen...

't zal me nu toch wel benieuwen wat er daar aan de hand is.

Het zal inderdaad wel om spionage gaan.

Dat Stepney op vakantie is zal niet toevallig zijn, is waarschijnlijk een verplicht verlof.

Dat werd al geopperd inderdaad, maar bij spionage worden mensen meestal op staande voet ontslagen. Dat is bij Stepney niet het geval, men benadrukt juist duidelijk dat hij nog steeds in dienst is. Ben benieuwd wat hier uit komt.

Ik heb juist gelezen dat er 6 dagen voor de GP van Monaco een verdacht wit poeder gevonden is in of rond de benzinetanks bij ferrari

Ik heb mij dikwijls afgevraagd hoe sommige mensen in het F1 milieu zo snel een fortuin kunnen maken. Briatore heeft een bootje van, schat ik, meer dan 1 miljard BF. Eddie Jordan's ligt in dezelfde grootte orde. De jaarlijkse onkosten van een boot liggen op 7% van de aankoopwaarde; in casu 70 miljoen BF per jaar. Natuurlijk hebben ze enorme budgetten, welke door hun vingers vloeien, maar ze houden er ook een exorbitante levensstijl op na, wat toch enkele tientallen miljoenen BF per jaar gaat kosten.

Bij Ferrari inmiddels ontslagen maar dat zal bij de rechter wel een staartje krijgen:

O.a. echte humor Vandaag werd de nieuwe hospitality unit van McLaren in gebruik genomen. Leuk tentje, ziet er allemaal mooi uit.....alleen de menukaart van dit weekend voor de gasten? Aparte wijnkeuze
