ACURA ANNOUNCES MOVE TO LMP1 FOR 2009

De Ferran Motorsports and Patron Highcroft Racing will lead Acura's race into the future by fielding two LMP1 entries in 2009.
Fulfilling plans set two years ago when it entered the American Le Mans Series, Acura Motorsports announced that it will move to LMP1 in the 2009 American Le Mans Series. De Ferran Motorsports and Patrón Highcroft Racing each will field prototypes in the Series' highest classification starting with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.

The two teams will each field an Acura ARX-02a prototype sports cars, developed by Honda Performance Development (HPD), in the most advanced and technically challenging class of the American Le Mans Series.

In addition, Lowe's Fernandez Racing will continue to campaign an Acura in LMP2 for 2009.

Honda, Audi en Pug in LMP1? Nou gaat het leuk worden

als ze als Acura doorgaan, zal het hoogstwaarschijnlijk voor ALMS zijn, en dus niet vs Peugeot

Acura gaat in 2009 of 2010 ook auto's verkopen in Europa dus dan is deelname aan LMS niet onwaarschijnlijk. Of men nu wel of niet auto's verkoopt, deelname aan Le Mans lijkt me sowieso op de planning staan (in 2010?).

Ik ga er vanuit dan Acura een benzine aangedreven prototype bouwt, dus dat betekent dat de ACO benzine en diesels meer gelijkwaardig maakt. (Dus Porsche heeft geen argument meer om geen LMP1 te bouwen)


En nu "Honda" gaat racen in LMP1 kan Toyota (Lexus) toch niet achterblijven?
