Nissan GT1 Programme Set To Break Cover
The final details seem to be coming together for Nissan’s return to top flight European GT racing. Dsc sources suggest that the parent company is now putting the final touches to a programme which will see works GT1 Nissan GT-Rs racing in selected European races in 2009.
The first car is understood to be substantially complete, prepared to the new GT1 spec, and will be race prepared in Europe by NISMO.
The factory intend for the GT-R programme to be an entirely customer effort post-2009 with their chosen partner team (a UK-based outfit which is known to dsc) committing to provide workshop space, facilities and race logistics in 2009 for a programme which, sources suggest, will take in a package of races including the Spa 24 Hours, then to field a pair of customer cars in 2010 in the planned FIA GT World Championship.
