Staat Nascar hoger aangeschreven dan Formule 1?
Volgens de leden van de Associated Press is dat het geval. Jimmie Johnson is uitgeroepen tot mannelijke athleet van het jaar 2009 vanwege zijn vier titels achter elkaar. Dat heeft Schumacher nooit voor elkaar gekregen.

Johnson received 42 votes from editors at U.S. newspapers which are members of the AP. Tennis star Roger Federer (30 votes) and Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt (29) were the only other athletes with totals in the double- digits.
