Als regelrechte single seater liefhebber heb ik natuurlijk enige aversie tegen het heerschap George. Het is voor velen nog steeds de personificatie van de teloorgang van de US Open Wheel racerij. Achteraf heb ik daar uiteraard een wat genuanceerdere menig over gekregen
Het is een publiek geheim dat Ecclestone reeds enige gesprekken heeft gehad met iemand uit Las Vegas voor een GP aldaar, wat zegt die kleine rat dan in de pers:

Wie is
we? Jij en je beurs? Denk dat enige fabrikanten niet blij zijn met deze gang van zaken
Wat heeft F1 voor Indy opgeleverd? Dalende bezoekersaantallen, saaie races, een foefelende Barichello/Schumacher en het Michelin-drama. M.a.w., geen gezonde business gezien de kosten.
Daarnaast heeft F1 een hautiane houding laten zien in de USA, als leverancier moet je je aanpassen aan je klanten, dat is iets wat F1 structureel de mist ingaat.
