Christian Fittipaldi and Antonio Garcia finished second in GT1 at Sunday’s Nürburgring 1000km. However, after failing post-race scrutineering, the No. 59 Team Modena Aston Martin DBR9 has been excluded from the official result due to a fuel tank size infraction. The car’s tank was 0.8 litres larger than the allowed 90 litres, giving the British team a slight advantage in the tight GT1 battle.

The British Aston Martin briefly led the six hour race after the dominant Oreca Saleen suffered a puncture. The French Saleen fought back, leaving the Team Modena crew with second in class. After the team’s disqualification, the corrected result sees the No. 72 Alphand Corvette finish second, followed by the No. 50 Larbe Aston Martin in third.
