Nicolas Bernardi was the only top runner on a rain-biased tyre, and he was one of three French factory asphalt draftees who erred. Bernardi slid off the road and inflicted and as-yet unknown degree of damage to his Peugeot 307. Alex Bengue (Skoda) and Stephane Sarrazin (Subaru) both spun. Bernardi wound up with ninth best time, Bengue 10th and Sarrazin 15th.
